Things are falling into place nicely at Japonica. We’ve been open for a while now and the place is feeling more and more established. Although there are quieter days, as you’d expect with a new salon and business venture, there are days when everything feels just right: everyone’s busy and clients and team alike are happy.
We’re going from strength to strength. Jack and Anne are heading up their first international shoot, which we’re casting for soon. Models get £250 per day and have to be open with their hair. If you’re interested please pop into Japonica and chat to Jack.
And we’re delighted to announce that we’ve taken on two new team members. Armandine Gaulin joins us as a senior stylist. Armandine is a French hairdresser and makeup artist who has worked in high-end salons for the last nine years and trained at Gina Conway’s five-star Aveda salons. And Georgia Laughton joins us as a junior stylist (who does the best blow dry in town). Both Armandine and Georgia worked with Jack at what was previously known as Bliss salon in Seven Dials.
We also continue our own training and development. Armandine and head of colour and master stylist Anne continue to look for, and work with, hair models. And Jack, a highly-respected international trainer in his own right, continues to train everyone on the team.
And last but not least, it was Jack’s birthday recently. 21 again. We celebrated with a little Friday afternoon party in the back garden, enjoying a few nibbles and making the most of the gorgeous summer weather. It’s really important to us to have a culture in the salon where we all enjoy time together as a team. Plus, how rare is it to actually have a garden in Brighton. We’re so lucky and we’re damn well going to make the most of it. That invite is open to clients too, of course.
As always, we’d love to see you at the salon. Pop into 46 New England Road or call us on 07840 769 592 to book your next cut and colour.
